What are fitness holidays?
Fitness and Holistic Exercise holidays are the ideal way to kick start a new fitness regime, throw yourself in at the deep-end or if you already enjoy a fitness and yoga programme, to really make some progress.
We have designed our tours to help individuals (or groups) discover their inner drive. We dig deep to find out just how far you are willing to go, both mentally and physically, so we can help you discover more about your abilities and improve performance. All of our clients leave with tired legs, peaceful minds and a greater understanding of their capabilities.
We all deserve a break from the everyday and a fitness or yoga holiday will leave you feeling refreshed, relaxed and ready to face the world. Whether you choose to sweat it out and push your body to the max or take it down a level with some relaxation and conditioning classes, you’ll end the holiday feeling great.
How Sardinia Fitness Tours started
I’m Katiuscia (you can call me Katy) and I founded SFT back in 2017 with the aim of combining my love for fitness and my home city.
I have over 20 years personal training experience in the UK and work with my clients to burn fat, increase fitness levels and improve their quality of life. Whether you want to achieve a fitness goal, re-connect with friends, make new ones or simply explore the beauty of Sardinia, you found the starting point.
The launch of Sardinia Fitness Tours was a huge success. Our opening tours paved the way for more ideas, bigger classes and more benefit to our clients. These initial classes gave us chance to learn what our clients wanted and further develop our offerings to create health and fitness masterclasses.
Like the whole world, our business took a hit in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to run our classes, but we used the time wisely. We now have modified class designs to enable COVID protocols and used the time to make new connections and add new experiences to our ever-improving tours.
We are now excited to offer 8 new tours for 2022 and we can’t wait for you (and your friends) to join us. What are you waiting for?
Fitness Tour Instructors
Our instructors hold professional qualifications and are there to ensure you enjoy the workout or help you to achieve more than you thought possible. Whether your here for the physical or mental benefits, it’s a great opportunity to make new friends, see the world and get away from your day-to-day life.
We currently have three Sardinia Fitness Tours instructors. Katy, owner and Personal Trainer. Sara our Trekking Tour Expert and guide, and Giovanni our Cycle Tour Operator.
What classes are offered during the tour?
Designed to increase your heart rate and improve aerobic fitness. We combine circuits, boxercise, zumba, and HIIT sessions to really get those muscles working.
Looking to wind down? Our fitness team can push you, to not only improve your flexibility but body awareness and strength too. Yoga is a great way to wake up your body, you’ll go through a mixture of stretches along with balance, strengthening and relaxation exercises, leaving you invigorated and ready to start or end the day.
Fitness Tour – Day One
Our tour starts with a day on the e-bikes. Starting from the centre of Cagliari up to the enchanting Poetto beach, passing by the Church of Bonaria and crossing the salt pans and the Molentargius Natural Park, a protected natural reserve of the splendid pink flamingos.
The excursion to the Park is something to do in Cagliari ; a unique experience immersed in an extraordinarily lively and wild landscape. The tour includes a stop in a characteristic kiosk on the beach in front of the wonderful sea of Sardinia.
This is soon followed by a tour of the four historic districts of Marina, which was characterized by its maritime activities, Stampace, where craft activities prevailed, Castello, home of the civil and religious aristocracies and finally Villanova, with prevailing agricultural activities.
A travel through the alleys into the heart of Cagliari, where you may experience unexpected views of the ancient city and breathe the smells of the districts and listen to the typical dialect. From the suggestive terraces you will be able to admire amazing views, discover the alleys, monuments, churches and many curiosities of the Sardinian capital.
Fitness Tour – Day Two
We get out on the bikes as we cycle 30km from Costa Rei to Villassimius, taking in the sites on route.
Fitness Tour – Day Three
Day three brings some much-needed rest as we head out on the Villassimius boat trip (lunch inclusive).
The excursion offers you the chance to swim all day, both off the boat and from the beaches and islands of the archipelago, where, with only the use of a mask, you can admire the beautiful waters rich in flora and fauna.
During the excursion, you will be offered an excellent lunch of Calamari, Seabream, Shrimp, Fries, Cheese, Coffee, Traditional Sardinian Liqueur Mirto, Water, Bread and Wine.
Fitness Tour – Day Four
It’s time to get out in the fresh air. On day four, immerse yourself in pristine nature, silent serenity, cool streams and giant boulders at Sardinia’s deepest canyon on this full-day trek that takes you far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The trek is approximately 8km with lunch included.
Fitness Tour – Day Five
We’re back on the hike to a distinctive rock formation on a promontory near Cagliari that, because of its shape, is known as Devil’s Saddle, or Sella di Diavolo in Italian. The promontory overlooks the city’s popular Poetto Beach.
The easiest way to see Devil’s Saddle is simply by visiting the beach, but there are also hiking trails along the promontory for a more close-up look. Hikers can walk along what began as an ancient Roman road and can climb up to one of the points on Devil’s Saddle.
Among the sights to see near Devil’s Saddle are the remains of a Roman cistern, an 11th-century monastery, and fortifications from World War II. There are even Punic ruins to see that date from the 6th century BC, before the ancient Roman era. A Punic temple was built on the promontory, dedicated to the Goddess Astarte. For many visitors, though, the main draw is the panoramic view from the top of the hill.
Options for the afternoon are Fitness on the beach and a walk along the 7km Poetto beach inclusive in the price or pay a supplement for Kayak Tour at Devil’s Saddle in Cagliari
